We’re really excited about the upcoming Tour of Missouri. This is an opportunity to see world class athletes competing right here in Springfield and something you should not miss. The best news is that the race will be coming right by Pastiche on September 12. Sounds like a perfect opportunity for us to throw a party! So plan on taking off work, school, or just escaping the house and head downtown for this histroical event.

Stay tuned for more information on what Pastiche is going to be doing…

Hot Happenings! August 20, 2007

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketIf you haven’t picked it up yet, you need to grab the latest issue of Go Magazine. This issue features their hot list and our wonderful finger puppets made the list! Yeah!

Our finger puppets enjoyed reading the article and were coming unraveled about the mention.

What else is new at Pastiche? Carla brought back a pile of silk scarves from New York. These are made from vintage Indian saris so they’re very bright and colorful. For only $12 a piece, you can pick up several for the fall season! Stop in to see all the great patterns.

Shhh….It’s a Secret August 9, 2007

Filed under: General Messages — pastichedecor @ 8:31 pm

Ok, the boss is away so, well, you know the saying….

That’s why Todd is running a secret sale while Carla isn’t looking. Through Saturday, August 11th, Pastiche is having a 20% off sale. That’s right. All regular priced merchandise is 20%.

So if you’ve been thinking about those new Freitag bags, or that crazy sofa, now’s the time to come in and buy.

You’ve only got through Saturday (or until Carla happens by the blog and screams at me or something) so don’t put it off!

So what does Socrates have to do with Pastiche? Well, nothing really other than our good friend Andy has started a Socrates Cafe dicussion group here in Springfield. There’s a meeting tonight and our own Carla will be moderating this discussion.

Socrates Cafe meets at Big Mamma’s Coffee Shop so if you’re interested in attending, check out this link:

Summer is Ending August 7, 2007

Even though we had a great Artwalk, there was a little bittersweet with the fun. This summer, Pastiche had two fantastic interns helping. Thursday was their last day as Brittany graduated from MSU on Friday and Natalie left to enjoy a little summer vacation before returning to KU. We’ll miss them both a great deal but wish them well on whatever life brings them next.

Before leaving, Brittany posed for a picture with us so we’re sharing our memories.

Name The Frame Contest Winner!! August 4, 2007

Filed under: Fun and Games — pastichedecor @ 5:08 pm

It was another fun and crazy Frist Friday Artwalk last night. Thanks to Damsels in Distress for keeping us entertained throughout the evening. They were great!

So on to the contest. What is the frame made from?

Rubber. Yes, it’s a bouncy, no-break frame. Who would have thought to make a rubber frame? Someone did and someone guessed right. Daniel just glanced at the frame and came up with the right answer. Way to go Daniel! Ok, we’ll mention that our brilliant landlord guessed right, but he doesn’t count since he didn’t write it down.

Some of you had some really great ideas though and we’d like to mention them:

Tara said bat guano. That’s great but what a hard thing to sell!

Erin was thinking along the same line and said manure.

Michelle thought it was recycled dryer lint. Very cool idea! That’s worth some research.

Bob was thinking overtime. He came up with cornstarch. Wow.

Alysha thought it was a street light pole. Great idea!

Dean got very technical on us and said anthracite. (It’s a stone.)

Steve’s mind was on something else. He guessed recycled Stag Beer cans. Cool.

Both David and Jo came up with wax. Great, creative thinking. That would work!

Nic was coming from somewhere strange as he thought it was camel’s tooth. Ok. We’re not sure what to think of that one.

Chad came up with the idea it was blueberries. Very cool We love blueberries. But, if it were made from them, it would have been eaten a long time ago.

Micah took the sign very literally and said the frame was made from commodified labor power. We don’t know who made the frame or where it came from so we’re not sure about that. We’ll have to take that up with Micah later.

Thanks to everyone who participated. We had a great time and hope you did too. And thanks to our friend Lori who gave us the frame!
